Peer Mentor Faculty Application
Peer mentor program: faculty application forms now available
Peer Connections invites faculty members to apply for the Peer Mentor Program this
spring semester. The program primarily seeks faculty members with classes that enroll
predominantly first-year students, facilitate group work and discussion, and support
the first-year experience. As part of the program, a Peer Mentor will be assigned
to work with the class and faculty member throughout the semester.
Peer Mentors are trained student leaders who provide guidance and resources for first-year students to navigate the college process. Peer Mentors partner with faculty in order to promote college success within and beyond the classroom environment. Their key responsibilities involve attending the assigned class, role modeling effective student habits, mentoring during individual sessions, facilitating educational workshops, sharing academic strategies, and providing campus referrals.
If you are interested in working with the Peer Mentor Program for the 2013 spring semester, please read through the Faculty Application Packet [pdf] for information on program guidelines, and complete the required application items by Wednesday, November 12 2012 at 5:00pm.
